SWISS PIANO TRIO

What is composer’s misfortune? Here is a good example: Bohuslav Martinů composed his Concertino H.231 for the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the Trio Hongrois in 1933 on a commission from Paul Sacher, but the original score was lost. Martinů composed a replacement piece, Concertino H.232, in just 11 days.  Fortunately, the lost manuscript was later rediscovered and premiered n 1963 at the Festival Strings Lucerne. The final concert of the Piano Trio Fest 2025 now offers the unique opportunity to enjoy both versions, showcasing Martinů’s innovative and versatile musical language.

Since its foundation in 1998, the Swiss Piano Trio has acquired an impressive reputation as an ensemble of exceptional homogeneity and expressiveness. The U.S. magazine Fanfare describes it as "one of the very top piano trio ensembles on today's stage."

The orchestra sinfonietta bern, founded in 2022, is an ensemble dedicated to promoting young conductors and musicians. Based in Bern, it combines local activities with concert tours across Switzerland, organizes open calls for young Swiss soloists, and collaborates with other cultural organizations in Bern and throughout Switzerland.
